Full Restoration
Are you ready for a change? Maybe your stain is beginning to fail or you may just be ready for a change of color! The average life of well-maintained house-stain is 15-20 years with maintenance coats every 3-5 years. Generally, our process for full restorations is: sealing, washing, sanding, any repairs, staining and then caulking.
sealing
Sealing your log/cedar-sided structure is generally the first step in our process. Our goal is to prevent water, bugs, and dust from entering the home. If your home has been previously sealed, we will check for cracks and breaks in the caulk or chink, as well as check the silicone around the windows and reseal them as needed.
Stain removal
After sealing your home it's time for the old finish to be removed. The removal process is based on previous products used, some structures need chemically stripped and others need media blasted. Once the stain is removed all logs are treated with a wood-preservative that acts as a fungicide and insecticide.
Sanding
Sanding is done after the stain removal process. Buffing the logs will remove any pitting or felting and ensures even stain absorption and a uniform finish.
Staining
When it comes to staining, we use the best products on the market. Whether you'd prefer oil or water-based products, it will be applied correctly and back-brushed after each coat. Back-brushing is a must for maximum absorption and adhesion and will ensure the products live up to their expectations.
Caulking/Chinking
Caulking or Chinking can be done before or after the staining process depending on whether you’d like the the lines to blend or contrast the stain color. An energy seal is meant to seal your home and to keep dust, pests, wind and water out while keeping your energy bills steady. All up-facing checks a quarter inch or larger will be filled with caulk to prevent log rot in the future.
Maintenance Coats
If your home isn't quite ready for a full restoration maybe it's time for a maintenance coat! With our general maintenance coat, we'll wash your house down freeing it from any dirt and debris, check and repair any breaks in the caulk/chink and silicone and then brush a fresh coat of stain or clear-coat on the structure, bringing back that freshly-stained look.
